Multipurpose Tracheostomy Connector
Designed and made by Dr A Murray Wilson at Oxford in 1969. This connector allowed the attachment of a rubber catheter mount, a B.S. 15mm connection to the tube and also the Oxford magnetic coupling. This was an annular magnet forming the female fitting in the tracheostomy tube, into which the plain male end shown here fitted. This system allowed the coupling to rotate, and be pulled apart if there was violent movement, without dislodging the tracheostomy tube.
