Sheffield & The Surrounding Area

The city of Sheffield is located nestled in a South Yorkshire valley at the confluence of 5 rivers. Although proud of its industrial heritage, in recent years Sheffield has been transformed from its industrial roots into a vibrant, green, modern city. Contrary to popular myth, Sheffield is one of the greenest cities in the country and boasts more trees than any other city in Europe! Despite having a population of over 500,000, it has retained its famous Yorkshire warmth and friendliness. Not for nothing to residents refer Sheffield as "the biggest village in the country!"

Uniquely, although boasting all the expected facilities of one of the UKs largest cities, just a 10 minute car ride and you find yourself in the midst of the beautiful Peak national park, a mecca for walkers, climbers and mountain bikers.

Sports fans will be well catered for. As the first National City of Sport, Sheffield boasts a wide array of world class sports facilities including the Institute of Sports medicine. The world student games was hosted here in 1991. Less energetic trainees may take advantage of the thriving nightlife in the city centre or Ecclesall road, or indulge in retail therapy at the famous Meadowhall shopping centre!
